Hilton Head Beaches

Hilton Head Island 's white sandy coastline stretches almost 14 miles in total, with most of the area resting against the Atlantic Ocean .

Based on the tide lines, the sand remains relatively hard-packed which easily supporter biking. Life guards are set up in front of major resorts as well as the public entrances.

There are 4 main public entrances to the beach and pay parking is available at each.

Coligny Beach

Located at Coligny circle which intersects Pope Avenue with North and South Forest Beach Drive, Coligny Beach is the island's most populated and is located directly across from the major shopping area Coligny Plaza. This location offers restrooms, water fountains, outdoor showers, pay telephones and additional amenities.  In addition, The Holiday Inn offers a full service outdoor bar called “The Tiki Hut” as well as volleyball courts.

The Public Parking Lot for Coligny Beach is available for $4.00 for the day ($2.00 after 2:00 PM ) which allows you to come and go throughout the day with your receipt.

Directly across the street, the shopping area Coligny Plaza , offers shopping and dining options.

Folly Field Beach

Folly Field beach is located just off of Folly Field Road (to the right offering restrooms, outdoor showers and water fountains. Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort offers an outdoor bar and entertainment during most of the season. You usually see the most surfers around this area..

Public Parking is limited to around 50 spaces and the spaces use meters at one dollar an hour

Dreissen Beach Park

Dreissen beach is located off Hwy 278, at Bradley Beach Rd. It offers public parking, restrooms, outdoor showers and drink vending machines

Alder Lane

Located next to the Marriott Grand Ocean Resort on South Forest Beach Rd 25¢ for 15 minutes. This is a nice wide beach and is relatively uncrowded. Amenities include restrooms, a water fountain and a drink vending machine.

Beach Regulations

- No alcoholic beverages are permitted on any part of the beach.

- You may not beach a power craft (including wave runners) on any beach , and they must be operated more than 150 Yards offshore, for the protection of swimmers.

- You may not walk on the sand dunes, as they are very fragile and are our protection against storm surge from gales and hurricanes.

- You may not remove any living creature from the beach (hermit crabs, starfish, sand dollars, etc.). What you think is a shell could be a hermit crab's home.

- Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, pets are only allowed on leashes before 9am and after 5pm.
